REBOL Failed to Build

At times REBOL will fail to build on specific target platforms.

Although we go to great lengths to reduce REBOL's dependency on the underlying OS platform, there are cases where a subsystem of REBOL requires specific includes or libraries. This problem normally occurs on systems that do not have standardized releases or perhaps lack backward compatibility requirements.

Quite often the problem occurs in the AGG graphics library used by REBOL/View, or in the C++ code that it's built on (REBOL itself just uses C.) Also, this code depends on FreeType2, which may not be configured or whose configuration (installation locations) often vary between target platforms.

If you have substantial experience in C or C++ for the failed target platform, and want to help get it working, please contact us. We can usually provide enough detail to help narrow in on the problem and its solution.
