There's been a lot of discussion about how to create better beginner documentation about REBOL. Yes, we (team REBOL) plan to put the documents and dictionary online via REBOL/Services fairly soon. But, "soon" does not mean "now". There are higher priorities like Mac OSX, the /Services system itself, rich text, index files, the View GUI, etc.

With that in mind, Henrik Kristensen recently created a wikibook as a programming introduction to REBOL. Bravo! I think it's a good move. After all, the project provides a low cost way to answer the question: "if a wiki is provided, will writers provide for the wiki?" If it works out, it will offer a good source of information for new users. If it does not work out, well... that tells us something... either about the wiki approach to content creation or about the REBOL community itself.

The REBOL wikibook is totally open. Anyone can edit it, and you don't even need an account to do so. You can just start typing into it, and the text format is similar to our very own MakeDoc. (I should note that I'm not yet sure how this approach works out in the long run, but at least it's a starting point.)

Henrik also commented that the wikibook provide additional exposure for REBOL, and I think that's a valuable insight. The more websites that bring up REBOL (with useful content), the faster our community will grow.

So, with all that said, here's the URL:

Thanks again Henrik!
