WWW.REBOL.NET Down 11-March-2007 (3:11 AM) Our services.rebol.net (hosting for www.rebol.net and developer services) has gone down again, this time more seriously.   Problem Same issues as prior postings. At 3:11 AM, for unknown reasons the server's primary Ext3 file system switched to read-only mode, and all processes and services became blocked due to lack of I/O. Later that day, a file system check showed numerous errors across the volume. A reboot of the server failed with multiple errors.   Resolution As of 12-March: the hard disk for the server will be replaced and a different operating system will be installed. These services went offline: REBOL.net developer's web site (all pages) REBOL.net cgi-built pages (e.g. Site Links, chat groups) Beta and experimental REBOL builds Carl's Blogs (Vive, R3.0, Update 2.7) RAMBO bug database and tracker REBOL3 AltME world (and a few other less-used REBOL worlds) Odd Timing We think the 3/11 3:11 timestamp for the crash is just a coincidence. If you have other information, please contact us. WWW.REBOL.NET Down 28-Feb-2007 Our www.rebol.net server has gone down.   Problem Same issues as mail.rebol.net from last month. For unknown reasons the server's primary Ext3 file system switched to read only mode. All mail and related processes and services became blocked due to lack of I/O. Remote reboot failed.   Resolution System did not reboot remotely and had to be rebooted manually by on-site operators. Odd Timing Both of our rebol.net servers run the Tinysofa distribution of Linux. It seems odd timing that we just recently read this notice: "In accordance with the tinysofa classic server road map (http://classic.tinysofa.org/roadmap.html) tinysofa classic server 2.0 will not be supported after the 31st March, 2007. This means that new security or bugfix updates won't be released after that date." "No new tinysofa classic server releases are planned at this time." MAIL.REBOL.NET Down 13-Feb-2007 Our mail.rebol.net server has gone down.   Problem For unknown reasons the server's primary Ext3 file system switched to read only mode. All mail and related processes and services became blocked due to lack of I/O.   Resolution System was rebooted and recovered on its own. These services went offline: REBOL email list (ecartis) mail.rebol.net web server (used for http access to email list)
