Comments on: Regarding REBOL.net outages
I've been seeing connection outages on REBOL.net (the developer site) quite often.
I wanted to give it a couple weeks to see if the situation would improve, but it seems to remain a problem.
The ISP, who I must note provides this site as a free service to the REBOL community, is aware of the problem.
We have begun to formulate a solution. We are considering:
- Physically relocating the primary webserver to where it has better access.
- Replacing the server with faster hardware (but only if the step above can be done.)
- Moving the mail list to another server at a different center (off the rebol.net subnet.)
Several REBOLers are involved in helping with this, and the plan is to make it happen over the next couple weeks. It is more than likely that new mail list software would be required.
If you have insights or can help out, post a comment or send me a feedback. Thanks.

I seem to understand that the problem is mainly with the webserver.
Are u using Apache ? Why don't u use Cheyenne (written entirely in Rebol) ?
Apache has become too bloated for my tastes.

I agree with Luca.. why not to use Cheyenne for REBOL content and Nginx to serve a static content. Apache is really bloated.
But I know that on rebol.net is not just web, but also the AltME world hosted which may be using quite a lot resources as well.. I don't know what HW is there. | buddyontobuddy 4-Jul-2012 20:54:03 |
