Comments on: Blog commenting now available
Reusing the same code from my REBOL 3.0 Front Line blog, this main blog now allows comments.
Giving credit where credit is due: thanks to Haloscan.com for supporting this service. We hope to be able to return the favor in the future.

Not sure of the best method to fix this, but both Rebol and Rebol3 comment popup windows force a vertical scrollbar. Could be just that a smaller header graphic is required for the comment template? | Carl Sassenrath 9-Apr-2006 19:57 |
Yes, I noticed. I tried changing the popup width, but haloscan seems to delay the update of that.
Probably the best long-term solution is to make the graphic smaller... when I get a few free mins to mess with it. | Anonymous 12-Apr-2006 6:23 |
Perhaps anything is better than nothing to get started with.
But the commenting mechanism has two drawbacks.
First, it requires javascript. Means around 10% of all human visitors will not even notice the comment feature exists. Plus close to 100% of all robot visitors, which inlcudes Google and other indexing engines.
Second, it deploys into a pop-up window. Increasing number of users have these blocked and recent versions of IE have pop-up blockers enabled as standard. It makes the commenting mechanism look broken as a click does nothing. |
