It's not really the purpose of this blog to focus on the problems associated with Apple laptop batteries, but it's certainly been interesting to see the popularity of those articles, and their high ranking on various search engines.

A number of Mac users have written to tell me that they've had similar types of problems. A smaller number played down the problems, with one person actually telling me I was wrong.

Then today, there was this:

Consumer Reports: 1.8 million Apple laptop batteries recalled for fire risk.

So, with that, I'd say: yes, there does seem to be a problem.

Is it directly related to my MacBook experiences? At first glance, it seems not, but then, it's quite difficult to say for sure. There's more to all of this than just a battery. There's circuitry to monitor the battery's level, circuitry to perform the recharge function, and logic to make decisions about when and how much / how long to charge. It's all related.

Anyhow, Macbook is still a nice laptop computer. I use it a lot, and I hope we get these problems behind us very soon.
